AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN WINDWARD O'AHU BRANCH CELEBRATING 50 YEARS . . . 1959 - 2009
|
Co-Vice Presidents for Membership, Sue (left)
and Flo (right), show off their display board
featuring membership activities, photographs,
and other memorabilia of the Windward
Branch through the years. Fifty years of
memories have been carefully stored and
preserved by branch historians. Each monthly
meeting will showcase a scrapbook of many
branch activities from the past.
FIFTY FABULOUS YEARS!
Gretchen Gould chaired a committee of past branch presidents who met for months to plan a year-long
celebration. They started In July of 2008 by participating in the Kailua 4th of July Parade. The year-long
celebration ended with the same 4th of July Parade in 2009.
The committee also commissioned a local artist to design a special logo which was used on special coffee
mugs and celebration literature throughout the year.. Members Alta Bento, Betty Sestak and Eleanor Ha
made attractive bags to carry the coffee mugs making it easier to bring coffee mugs to meetings.
Below are Windward Branch members who participated in the Kailua 4th of July Parade in 2008. For
more recent photos of the 2009 parade, go to July Parade. Below, Jacquie Maly holds her "goose" - a real
attraction for the keiki along the parade route. Other participants were Alto Bento, Gretchen Gould,
Hazel Rand, Joanne Flannery, Leslie Briggs, Lynn Miller, Cindy Yates and Kathy Jaycox.
